What is a comfortable temperature and effective to adjust my thermostat?
I live in Florida in an apartment complex and my building has just received the Energy Star A / C units. I also bought a digital Honeywell thermostat and I was wondering what temperature optimum would be to keep putting in so I'm comfortable and save money on my electricity bill? During the day, when I'm at work and school, I programmed my thermostat to 78 degrees and at night it is 65 degrees. What do you think? Thank you for all your answers!
For cooling, the temperature for both home and out-of-the-home settings, the better. While you're at work or school you can let the temperature rise a little higher than 78F - what matters is that the house is comfortably cool when you get home, you can adjust the thermostat starts to cool 15 minutes before you return normally. The hotter you let yourself get all you're on the go, the more you save. For example, why not try 82F or 84F? I have no air conditioning (I'm in Costa Rica where it is 90F all the time!) And I live comfortably So, seems positively 78F Chilly! For your temperature at night, 65F is too low. My wife complains when I put the heat low in winter! Normally you can withstand a temperature hotter when he sleeps - 82F to 84F should be OK, then when you are at home and active 78F to 80F should be fine. Remember that the lower the temperature, the more you save.
