Tuesday, September 13th, 2011Audio/Video Receiver clicks while OFF position (Standby Mode)?
I have a Harman/Kardon AVR25II stereo receiver (circa 1995), everything works and there are no issues with it whatsoever but recently I started hearing intermittent clicking sounds while the thing is powered OFF (or in 'Standby Mode'). It would do it once in a while. I hear it clearly at night times since there are less ambient noise. I thought it was the wood creasing from my entertainment center but I've came to realized that it'd came from the unit.
As I am typing now (2:00am), I can hear the things 'click' once in a while -- I'd say once every hour or so, or sometimes none at all. What can be wrong, or is it some kind of symptom or sign stating for the end to come?
You probably have a resistor or capacitor going out..you could try and locate it and replace it or just try unplugging it completely until it stops working, also it could be a ground problem, or the ground problem could be the cause of the resistor going out, make sure the unit is grounded properly and that you are using a surge suppressor
