Wednesday, August 24th, 2011I have two freshwater snails?
They both continue to go to the top and stay there for some time. We begins to float and I have to go out and put it back in for it to sink. Whats Going On?
Your water parameters are not good. Snails tend to gravitate toward the top of the tank if the toxins in the water (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates). I suggest a water change immediately 25-50% and keep on them until they seem to act normal. Go to a local pet shop and buy a kit of water test liquid to see what your settings are not. If this is a new aquarium of your cycle is just starting to go. Once the cycle complete, beneficial bacteria will help mitigate the problem, however, weekly water changes are still needed.
