Stove Electric

Any advice or pointers on cleaning, maintenance or cooking with an electric stove and oven?

Also, how is it better or worse than a gas stove? I get my very first electric stove and oven used to learn to cook and bake with!

Like anything else, there are advantages and disadvantages. I prefer an electric oven for baking ovens, gas does not seem to be more uniform temperature. Regarding the kitchen, gas is a little faster to get hot, but when you turn it off, it is off. Electric remains a hot time. There really is not much maintenance, just keep it clean and the best way is to wipe things before they do not dry on. You did not say if it was a burner unit coil or ceramic top unit. The coil burners are somewhat more difficult to clean = more cracks and crevices for stuff to take. Ceramic tops are wonderful, but you MUST wipe the splashes before they dry on. If you get a boil or something nastier, there are special cleaners you can buy to remove it. Do not use anything other than the special cleaners or hot soapy water and a sponge or dishcloth! No steel wool pads, Comet and similar to scratch the devil out of him. I've cooked with gas and electric and really have very little trouble and forth between the two .... you should do well!
