What is the range of security level of TDS for drinking?

we live near the coastal area of India-Jamnagar drinking water is still a shortage in this area and also the quality of water is very difficult. we need to use groundwater repeatedly have TDS levels over 1000. considering the above problem, I bought a water purifier with RO system of a company standard two years ago. cost me aroung Rs. 12000 now because of good monsoon last two years, the groundwater has increased and perhaps the hardness of water is reduced. now we use water as drinking water company with the TDS level around 117. the engineer Service Company water purifier visied few days back and change the membrane through regular maintenance. now level TDS of purified water (out of the machine) has dropped to only 6. plans back to the ground above my forty are: ** What is the average level TDS? ** Is it safe to use this water with low TDS for drinking? (I am a child of 6 years in the family)

Total dissolved solids (often abbreviated TDS) is an expression for the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid which are present in a molecular, ionized or micro-granular (colloidal Sol) suspended form. In general, the operational definition is that solids must be small enough to survive filtration through a sieve size of two microns. Total dissolved solids are normally considered for water systems sweet, for salinity comprises some of the ions constituting the definition of the TDS.
