How do I build a water leak detector for a floor?
I have a server room at work and the guys are very concerned any form of water leak (roof water pipe, floor drain, etc..) I want a device for detecting leaks that would sit in some different locations in the room upstairs and an alarm if water is present, a phone dialer could be good too. Someone he plans to work for this or if you know a web view I could find a pattern.
You can actually build, using a 9V. battery a piezoelectric buzzer, the garment of a type spring pin, and an aspirin. Wire from the battery to the alarm, using aspirin as a separator to break contact of positive son wrapped around two jaws of the clothespin. If aspirin is wet, it dissolves and son to touch, completing the circuit. If you want, you could recycle a smoke detector, scanning it for most of these materials. expensive but very effective!
