Humidity Meter
My question is steaming about barriers in the wine cellars. I basically build a cellar new?
The cellar will be a concrete box (4x3.5x2.4 meters) underground. Is a vapor barrier go outside the box or inside? The weather here (Singapore) are in the years nineties, the humidity is in the% 85 + range. No recommendation on the thickness of walls, insulation and vapor barrier? This is a new construction so I would do it! Regards, Midas
No offense, but Singapore is not in the 90, with 85% humidity, 24/7/365. I think you should consider that the concrete SEAL outside first, be careful, and at least something below ground level, and anything less than probably any table of possible high water. Not knowing at all if you intend to finish the concrete interior if the structure is underground, and can be assumed to remain at a relative constant temp, and dry, then I see no need for a barrier interior unless you intend to "Finish" interior walls. It also sounds like they will be "shaken" wines that are not strictly chilled. I think I'd probably need a decent humidity / temp gauge in place and possibly a dehumidifier. In any case, I think I want to prep the box, and know that it conditions over time, even before stocking. You state box concrete basement. Will this pre-formed slabs or box, similar to a septic tank, or block concrete slab? Beyond that, though I do will not be as harsh, I suspect that I will consult with Wine "experts" first and then building contractors. Whether or not this is for private consumption or public, whether it may be important in a wine cellar well stocked, which grew mold or product had to turn vinegar. Steven Wolf Just my 2 "sense"
