What is the point of running a vaporizer / humidifier coughing?
I cough and my mother ran the vaporizer / humidifier (whatever it called!) and IM to ask, what is the point of such a device during runniing sick and what is the point of raising your head when you sleep.
When you cough, it is useful to keep the air moist to keep the mucus moist so it is easier to expectorate. If the environment is dry, the mucus is thick and difficult to cough Out. Having dragged around the mucus in the lungs makes you susceptible other, more serious infections such as pneumonia. Elevating your head helps you to breathe and also helps run the mucus in the throat from sitting stagnant, allowing bacteria to multiply.
