Replacing old Honeywell round thermostat with programmable?

I'm replacing old Honeywell thermostat (round) with Programmble RLV4300 Honeywell thermostat. The problem I have is that when I connect the new thermostat it does not turn. It is said that the son are not polarized, so I can not connect to the wrong son. The old thermostat is 24V, so im just not seeing what I'm doing wrong, it is for baseboard heaters and again said that it Baseboard new 2 Ok over the old round Honeywell thermostat 2 bed 24V son, I have electric baseboard heaters, it goes to 2 heaters in the room. Honeywell is a new 2 son thermostat electric baseboard, it has only 2 non-polarized son I tried plugging both directions but nothing happens. How can I check resistive load stated in the instructions it will not work for loads of less than 2A and 12.5 A

RLV4300 is a 240V electric baseboard thermostat. This would mean that you have electric heat. If you had a 24V thermostat you replace it with a compatible device, you do not have electric baseboard heaters, air or heat or water. Whats the model of the former thermostat?
