Goldstar Dehumidifier
How to operate properly or dehumidifier program while we are away?
We bought a dehumidief a Walmart (that the only retailer within 45 miles in Maryland's rural west) to use in the basement of our log home vacation. It had settings for two (2 cycle or 4 hours on and off) and the percent moisture (ranges from 35 to 70 I believe). We connected to a drain with a hose, if the reservoir capacity is not an issue. We bought it because there was a lot of condensation on the pipes and tank well pressure in the cellar. How should we start running while we are away (sometimes for weeks)? The manual is no help. This is Goldstar brand made by LG. Should we define both the undergraduate and percent humidity? Is it normal to let dehumidier run for long periods of time? Any other advice on the proper functioning would be appreciated. He said something in the manual for use at temperatures less than 65 degrees. The basement is always cold, with temperatures in the low to mid sixties. Thank you!
Another thing to keep in mind is that the dehumidifier is a significant amount of heat during operation, helping to dry the space. You could also consider connecting the dehumidifier in a surge protector. I would also like to raise so that it is on the ground, just in case a flooding of any kind. And I would still not be completely comfortable with an electrical device that will operate for weeks at a time in my absence.
