How do you install a portable air conditioner in a window Horizonal-Mobile?

So my two questions are: 1. Portable air conditioners are delivered with an exhaust hose and window-kit. Is this kit window work both Horizonal and vertical sliding windows? My window is 42.5 inches in height so the window kit would rise as high. 2. Which portable air conditioner do you recommend for a room of small to medium size who work with this window? I looked at Royal Sovereign, Amcor, Soleus Air, DeLonghi, SPT, etc. .. But I have no experience with them. Thank you very much!
